If you experience issues while already inside your Zoom session, please use the guide below to quickly resolve the most common problems.
Audio Issues (Cannot Hear or Be Heard)
If you cannot hear others:
- Make sure your speakers or headphones are properly connected
- Click the arrow next to the microphone icon in Zoom and select the correct speaker
- Check that your device volume is turned up
If others cannot hear you:
- Make sure your microphone is not muted
- Click the arrow next to the microphone icon and select the correct microphone
- Try clicking “Test Speaker & Microphone” in Zoom audio settings
Video Issues (Camera Not Working)
- Make sure your camera is not turned off in Zoom
- Click “Start Video” if your camera is off
- Check that the correct camera is selected in Zoom settings
- Close any other applications that may be using your camera
Internet Connection Issues (Lag, Freezing, or Dropping)
- Check that your internet connection is stable
- Move closer to your Wi-Fi router if needed
- Pause any downloads or streaming on your network
- Turn off your video temporarily to improve connection stability
Zoom Freezing or Not Responding
- Leave the meeting and rejoin using your same Zoom link
- Close and reopen the Zoom application
- Restart your device if the issue continues
Cannot Join Breakout Rooms
- Make sure your Zoom app is updated to the latest version
- When prompted, click “Join Breakout Room”
- If nothing happens, leave the meeting and rejoin
Echo or Background Noise
- Use headphones to reduce echo
- Mute your microphone when not speaking
- Avoid using multiple devices in the same room with audio on
